“Stay true to yourself and listen to your inner voice. It will lead you to your dream.”
As this new golf season begins, I reflect upon all that the IWGA has done to advance women’s golf since our founding in 1933. Successes have been many but there is always a need to do more. With that in mind, we are re-structuring our Board to make better use of the different talents each volunteer board member brings to the table. Focusing on individual skills rather than the ability to “work” at each and every tournament.
We are seeking new Board members, ready to help the IWGA fulfill our mission of advancing golf opportunities for the women and girls of Illinois.
New for 2018 are 2 additional “surprise” categories for the State Amateur tournament. The Junior tournament will be moved to a venue providing more of a challenge to the increasingly talented field of young golfers.
Our technology committee, led by several talented board members, has worked diligently to improve the facilitation of all three of our tournaments, our website, and our communications. Our charitable arm continues to seek contributions through the Victory Fund, which is KEY to our ability to fund the IWGA Mini Grant program, which in 2017 fulfilled requests of nine Illinois college and university women’s golf teams. In addition to the support of individuals, golf and country clubs, the John Deere Birdies for Charity program supports the IWGA each year.
Visit our website (www.IWGA.org) to see how you can join us in supporting these programs and charities. Finally, we are here for you, we appreciate all you have done to support the IWGA in the past and look forward to seeing our old friends and making new acquaintances at this year’s tournaments.
