48th Illinois State Senior Women’s Amateur Championship
Dates: September 19-21, 2017
Location: Rockford Country Club , Rockford Illinois,
Format: The tournament format is 54 holes of stroke play. Players are paired by scores with flights also established by age groups. This tournament is the most popular of the three events and typically has a full field.
Eligibility: The event is open to women who are residents of Illinois, have a handicap index of 30.0 or less, and have reached their 50th birthday by the tournament date. Handicaps will be verified using the August 15th date for eligibility.
Entry Fee: $225 (includes cart)
Entry Deadline: August 15, 2017, or until the qualifying field of 120 players is full.

News: 3-Hole Play-Off Decides the 2017 Illinois State Women’s Senior

The third and final round of the Illinois Women’s Golf Association (IWGA)’s Senior Women’s Amateur Championship was held today, Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Rockford Country Club.

Jan Bowers, Lincoln, and Lucy Sievers, Wilmette, battled it out over three play-off holes, after they both finished with a 243 during the regulation play of 54 holes.  Jan Bowers won the play-off  with a par, making her the Champion of the 46th Illinois Senior Women’s Amateur Championship, with Lucy Sievers finishing in second place.  Dee Anne Stolarik, of Zion, was third with a score of 244.  The winner of the overall low net title was Pam Brown from Naperville, with a score of 209.

The players also competed within flights based on their age, ranging from 50 to 79, and prizes were awarded in both low gross and low net categories.

Club selected Rockford Day Nursery to receive $1500.00 on behalf of the IWGA for hosting the 2017 Senior Championship.

Rockford Day Nursery’s mission is to provide quality care for young children between the ages of 6 weeks and 12 years whose parents are employed or involved in work related training. 

For over 100 years, children enrolled at Rockford Day Nursery have been provided with developmentally appropriate educational activities.  Our trained early childhood professionals support the children’s learning by differentiating activities in the classroom to meet each child’s needs in a safe and nurturing manner.  While the children are in our care, their parents are able to attend work or training and provide their families with economic stability.
