Official In Charge
The Official in Charge is the board member assigned to administer all rules items at a championship. Often this will be the Rules Chair, but can also be another rules-qualified board member. The Official in Charge is responsible for making sure that the championship is run in accordance with USGA rules and IWGA guidelines and is responsible for making the “tough” decisions regarding pace of play penalties, suspension and resumption of play, and for course setup and marking.
This page is meant to be a comprehensive collection of resources that the Official in Charge may need at a championship.

- Match Play Rounds
- In match play, players are not required to submit a signed scorecard. All that is required is that one or both players report to an appropriate official the result of the match. Players can be directed to a Scorer’s Table or can simply be asked to report to the Scoreboard which is staffed with an official authorized to accept the result of the match.
- When reporting a match result, the winning player should be advised of her next match start time. If there are to be two matches played in one day, the IWGA policy is to allow a player at least 40 minutes between matches. If both players agree, the match can begin in less than the allowed 40 minute break.

Reporting Results to Other Entities
Each year, the results of our championships need to be reported to other entities so that players will have their performance in our championship count toward standings in these other entities. Sample reports are provided at the bottom of this page.
WAGR (World Amateur Golf Rankings)
This is a joint effort between the USGA and the R & A to establish world rankings of players. Our State Am and Senior Am count in their system. Our Junior Am does not since they do not track junior events.
We get emails from them weekly throughout the year addressed to president@iwga.org. We forward those emails to both the president and to Char McLear who is responsible for responding. There are only three times that we need to respond back and they are quite fussy about being on time. In each case we have to update an Excel sheet that is attached to the email. The format is very confusing and uses a date format of dd/mm/yyyy. There are instructions that accompany the spreadsheet that are also tough to read, but it’s do-able. Worst case scenario, if you can’t figure it out, ask Tyler from the USGA for help.
1-Late November: We have to submit the dates and locations of next year’s championships
2-The week after our State Am, we have to report the qualifying round results and match play results
3-The week after our Senior Am, we have to report the results. The top 15 players are sufficient.
